Yes. Buccal swab and blood samples contain the same DNA and will therefore produce the same paternity test results.
Buccal swabbing is our customary way of sample collection due to its simple, painless procedure and the preferred method by mothers for their children since its pain free.
Additionally, blood samples are rarely used due to the fact that if a blood transfusion or bone marrow transplant was performed on an individual, that person’s blood would contain DNA from the donor which can cause inconclusive results and delays due to having to collect the DNA of that person again by different method.
