DNA Test Can Provide Peace of Mind
If there is an issue of paternity or a question about blood relationships that is keeping you awake at night, All About Truth DNA Testing Services can help restore your peace of mind. This type of DNA test is solely for your own use. It cannot be used for legal purposes. (We have other options if a court-admissible test for immigration or other purposes is needed.)
The DNA test for peace of mind is performed by a third party in our office to ensure accuracy. This is conducted without so-called chain of custody, which is a chronological verification of every step of the process from sample collection to shipping to presentation of the evidence in court.
For our peace-of-mind service, All About Truth DNA Testing Services follows the same ultra-professional methodology that is acceptable in legal cases, only absent the chain of custody.
The process goes as follows: Parent and child come to our clinic. Samples are collected by one of our professional staff. Results are analyzed in the laboratory. In most cases, results are available in just 3 business days.
Peace of Mind Also Available With Our Home DNA Testing Option
Self-administered DNA kits are invaluable for reassuring oneself, or for answering those nagging questions. However, there is always the risk of contamination or inaccuracy if the test isn’t conducted exactly as directed. This is especially true if someone besides our client is executing the test.
For true peace of mind, we advise our clients to perform the test themselves or have the collection, testing and analysis done professionally.
A self-kit is available for just $150. The self kit option includes the sample kit with instructions which is mailed to the recipient by priority mail, the return envelope back to us by UPS courier, the test, and the delivery of results.
The self-kit option is an appropriate option for some situations. However, it is not admissible in court. If you believe that testing may lead to a legal issue down the road, it may be best to pursue a more structured DNA test from the beginning.
For instance, if a person alleging to be the father of a child signed a birth certificate, a court order may be required to have the name of the father legally changed. In this case, a court-admissible DNA test is the best feasible option and may save money in the long run.
DNA Testing Procedures Vary Depending on the Goal
If a relationship question is fraught with uncertainty or confusion for one or more of the parties, a DNA test may put some questions to rest. It may also introduce a new component into the situation.
For true peace of mind, you need certainty. If the DNA test is conducted faithfully and properly during every step— from sample collection to preservation of the sample while preventing contamination, to shipping, laboratory handling, processing and production of test results— it is a balm to the spirit that is priceless.
Every situation is different. Only you can answer whether a self-kit, online kit, or full-fledged legally acceptable DNA test is the appropriate tool for your peace of mind.
