– THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE OPTIONS FOR DISCREET DNA TESTING BELOW:
Option One: This test option is a gathering of unusual samples from the person or persons you want tested. This test option is a two part test using unusual samples from such person or persons. A list of the most commonly used samples are listed below although anything can be tested that you may think would contain DNA:
– Hair (pulled, not cut, hair must include the root)
– Fingernail clippings
– Ear wax on a Q-tip swab
– Toothbrush
– Chewed gum
– Cigarette butt
If the unusual sample brought into our office or mailed to us contains sufficient DNA (and not all such samples may, due to the storage of sample, age of sample and amount), and a full DNA profile is obtained, we will then be able to proceed with the second part of testing to determine paternity, maternity, sibling relations, shared paternal or maternal lineage, uncle or aunt relationships. NOTE: There are two separate charges for this option.

What Discreet DNA Testing Can and Can’t Do
Discreet DNA testing using a Self-administered DNA kits and/or unusual samples are convenient, however, there is always the risk of contamination or inaccuracy if the sample isn’t collected as directed or stored properly before providing to us for testing. This is especially true if you allow someone to collect the samples that may have an interest in altering the samples to provide results favorable to him/her.
For true peace of mind, we advise our clients to have the samples collected professionally by us directly, so that no one can manipulate the samples in any way.

There are also issues of whether a certain type of testing is the best option for the situation. While the discreet testing option may be convenient, it is not admissible in court. Since we do not know or verify the origin of such samples as we do with a court admissible tests, such tests cannot be used in a court of law or government entities as they do not follow any chain of custody on the samples.
